Table of Contents

  1. Don’t rush through the solution! Before making a move, ensure you’re reasonably confident. If something feels off, it likely is. Pause and explore other alternatives for both you and your opponent.

  2. Take your time with each problem. For simpler puzzles, spend about 30 seconds to 3 minutes before checking the solution. For more difficult ones, extend that to 3-5 minutes. As your skills improve, try stretching your time even further, working up to 20-30 minutes on a single problem to fully grasp it.

  3. Always review the solution, even when you’re correct. You may have missed key variations or details that are still valuable to learn from.

  4. Approach every problem with a mindset to learn. The goal isn’t to solve everything perfectly but to extract as much knowledge as possible. If you get something wrong, identify the reason—was it unfamiliar territory or a miscalculation? This understanding is key to improving.
